What is “The Great Commission”?
“All authority on heaven and earth has been given unto Me. Therefore go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey all things I have commanded y’all” Matthew 28:
“Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, whoever does not believe shall be condemned.” Mark 16:15-16
The first thing to understand about the Great Commandment is that it follows as a direct corollary to the Great Commandment. If we love our neighbor as we are commanded it is only natural that we would want them to come to salvation. And it is that love that should wake the lost from their sleepy indifference to the Lord. We are to lead souls to an informed decision about following Christ. We need to take the time to earn people’s trust and respect so that our words have credibility.
